The Three-Part Daily Method

Serious Hifz is built on a simple daily structure used in traditional halaqas for centuries. Skipping any of the three parts is the most common cause of failure.

Sabaq: the new portion

A small, realistic amount of new memorisation, usually between three lines and half a page depending on the student's age and available time. The teacher recites it first, corrects pronunciation, and only then does memorisation begin.

Sabqi: near revision

The pages memorised over the last seven to fourteen days are recited daily. This is where new memorisation becomes secure rather than temporary.

Manzil: far revision

A rotating cycle through everything previously memorised, usually one juz per week, so that no portion goes untouched for long. Students who maintain manzil never lose what they have memorised.

Certified Egyptian Teachers You Can Trust

Every teacher at Dhikr Academy is a native Arabic speaker from Egypt with formal Islamic education and an Al-Azhar background in recitation. They are chosen for character as much as for qualification, because a Quran teacher shapes a student's relationship with the Book of Allah, not just their reading accuracy.

All of our teachers speak clear English, have between five and twelve years of teaching experience with international students, and are trained to work with children as well as adults.

  • Formal Quran and Tajweed certification
  • Al-Azhar educational background
  • Five to twelve years of teaching experience
  • Male and female teachers available
  • Clear English alongside native Arabic
  • Patient, structured and encouraging teaching style

Realistic Timelines

Every student wants to know how long it will take. The honest answer depends on daily time, age and consistency, but these figures are drawn from our own students rather than from marketing claims.

  • Juz Amma: four to eight months at three lessons per week
  • Five juz: around eighteen months at four lessons per week
  • Ten juz: three to four years for a school-age child with daily practice
  • Full Quran: four to seven years for a committed child with daily lessons and home revision
  • Adults with an hour a day typically complete Juz Amma within a year

Flexible Schedule and Online Platforms

Classes are available throughout the week, including weekends. You can choose one, two or three lessons per week, or daily Hifz sessions. We recommend three sessions per week for students who want faster progress.

Classes are available on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype and WhatsApp when appropriate.

  • 1 lesson per week
  • 2 lessons per week
  • 3 lessons per week
  • Daily Hifz sessions

My son completed five juz in under two years while at secondary school. The revision system is what made it work. His teacher never let him move forward on shaky pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know Tajweed before starting Hifz?

You need to be able to read Arabic fluently. Tajweed is refined during Hifz itself, with the teacher correcting as you memorise.

How many lessons a week are needed for serious Hifz?

We recommend at least three sessions a week for steady progress, and four or more for children pursuing the full Quran.

Can adults still memorise the Quran?

Yes. Adults memorise more slowly but revise more consistently. Many of our adult students have completed several juz.

How much do Hifz lessons cost?

A 30-minute lesson is £3.50 and a 60-minute lesson is £7.00, with a free first trial lesson and no registration fee.
